This Saturday the much-hyped Dekalb market finally opens in Downtown Brooklyn. Expect your usual eclectic mix of Brooklyn market vendors (artists/chefs/farmers… they’ll all be there) only this time they’ll be housed in salvaged shipping containers.

Ditch your vegan friends and head to Meatopia 2011 and 3rd Ward’s Annual Pig Out
Saturday is 3rd Ward’s 4th Annual Pig Out, a neighborhood party featuring BBQ from The Brindle Room, free education demos, and live music from Union Street Preservation Society, Northern Bells, Alana & the Rough Gems, and DJs The Gorges Boys. And best of all, it’s all free.

A celebration of meat, the “Woodstock of Edible Animals,” Meatopia 2011 will bring together over 45 chefs, half a dozen farmers, and hundreds of meat lovers for all the meat you can eat, live music, and lots of beer. Tickets are a bit steep ranging from $85-190.
